The Qualities of a Pearl
Cultured pearls are not rated by an industry-wide grading system. There are specific qualities that do affect the value of a pearl. These
qualities include:
Size–More than any other factor, size determines the price.
Shape–Only 1% of pearls are perfectly round.
Color–The most common are white, pink, cream, silver, black, and gold. Rare pearls have underlying tones of rose, blue, and green.
Surface–The less imperfections on the surface, the higher quality the pearl.
